Romanian Cultural Centre “St. Andrei Șaguna”

A perspective offered to future generations for preserving the Christian identity.

Starting in 2022, we began the official process to transform the Parish House located within our Church grounds into a Romanian Cultural Centre, dedicated to the social, cultural, and spiritual needs of our Romanian community. After overcoming many challenges, in 2024 we received approval from the Local Authorities for this important Church project, and in August 2025 the construction work began. The estimated value of this project exceeds £400,000, and we pray and hope that it will become a space that will serve as the heart of our community.

Confession: A Path to Forgiveness and Renewal

Confession, often known in many Christian traditions as the Sacrament of Reconciliation, is a sacred practice in which individuals openly acknowledge their sins before a priest or spiritual father. This profound act is rooted in the belief that sincere confession leads to divine forgiveness, spiritual healing, and the restoration of one’s relationship with God.

During confession, the penitent, the person seeking forgiveness, enters into a private and heartfelt dialogue with the priest. This moment of humility typically includes admitting specific wrongdoings, expressing genuine repentance, and receiving spiritual counsel or penance. Acting as a witness and guide, the priest offers absolution, the blessing that frees the soul from the burden of sin, by the grace of God.

Traditionally, confession takes place in a confessional or a quiet corner of the church, providing a safe, confidential space where one can speak freely and seek guidance. In some communities, confession may be offered in a more open and visible manner, reflecting the Church’s role as a loving and supportive family.

Confession is far more than a formal admission of guilt. It is a sacred encounter with God, a step toward spiritual transformation, and a renewal of the heart. Through it, believers are called to reconcile with their faith, their neighbours, and themselves, embracing the Christian path of forgiveness, redemption, and the continual journey toward holiness.
