From the time he received the priestly ministry in March 2008 until November 2015, with the blessing and appointment of Metropolitan Iosif, Father Dan faithfully carried out pastoral, liturgical, and social service in two cities of the United Kingdom – Nottingham and Liverpool – serving with dedication “in season and out of season.”
Beginning in 2012, at the request of Father Dan Ghindea, both Romanian Orthodox parishes would, after every Divine Liturgy, raise a special prayer asking God to grant them their own place of worship. This spiritual effort bore rich fruit and strengthened the communities with courage and perseverance, for in time, through God’s providence, both parishes obtained their own church buildings.
On Sunday, 15 November 2015, on the Feast of Saint Paisius of Neamț – the patronal feast of the parish in Liverpool – the pastoral mission of Father Dan in the north-west of Great Britain came to a blessed and successful conclusion. After persistent efforts and petitions to the local authorities, the Romanian community there received a beautiful church-chapel in Bebington, near Liverpool. Through the care of Metropolitan Iosif, the pastoral mission in that region was entrusted to Father Florin Voinea, who continued the service with dedication.
After more than seven years of service, and with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Iosif, Father Dan turned his attention to founding a new Romanian Orthodox mission in Manchester and the surrounding areas. By the mercy of God, on 30 January 2016, the Akathist Hymn to the Three Holy Hierarchs was celebrated for the first time in Manchester, inside a beautiful Anglican church – a moment that marked the beginning of Orthodox mission in this city of Great Britain.
At the beginning of Great Lent in 2016, through the project Our Church – Our Shield, the Romanian community in Nottingham & East Midlands began a courageous and hope-filled journey to acquire its own place of worship. Through prayer, dedication, sacrifice, and above all, by the providence and grace of God, this goal was achieved in 2019. This blessed accomplishment was made possible through the generous contributions of our community, along with a bank loan obtained for a determined period.
